Our Ingredients.
At Canine Chef, we prioritise using high-quality, natural ingredients in our homemade bakes.
Our recipes feature wholesome components that are not only tasty but also beneficial for your dog's health. Here are some ingredients that you might find in our home bakes.
Coconut Flour
Coconut flour is used to make all of our grain free biscuit bakes. It offers numerous advantages for dogs. It serves as a low glycemic substitute for conventional flour, it is rich in fiber, which can assist in promoting healthy digestion. Additionally, being naturally gluten and grain free, it is suitable for dogs with allergies or sensitivities, allowing them to enjoy treats made with coconut flour without adverse effects. Overall, coconut flour is an excellent choice for providing your pet with a delicious and nutritious option.
Banana
We use small amounts of banana in our bakes to replace eggs where required. Bananas are rich in potassium and vitamin B6 which can help regulate blood flow, they are full of magnesium and can add to the fibre requirement helping to regulate the digestive tract.
Oat Flour
Oat flour, being low in gluten, serves as an excellent alternative to wheat for dogs with allergies. It also contributes positively to the health of a dog's skin and coat. Additionally, due to its high fiber content, oat flour aids in maintaining regularity in dogs. It is a rich source of vitamins E, K, B6, and B9, along with soluble fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc. Incorporating oat flour into a dog's diet can enhance digestion and help reduce problematic cholesterol levels. There is much more to oats than one might initially realise, which is why we do still use them in some of our homemade dog biscuits.
Eggs
Eggs are bursting with nutrients for dogs, they are high in fat which is why we sometimes replace them for one banana, however they are perfect in our Energy Bakes to provide exactly that for sporting dogs or dogs needing that extra boost!
Eggs are high in protein which is vital for muscle growth, maintenance and energy. They come with Vitamin A which is brilliant for dogs skin and coat as well as helping the immune system along with complex vitamin Bs.
Meats
At Canine Chef, we prioritise the health and wellbeing of your dog by using only high-quality meat in our bakes. We understand that dogs thrive on wholesome ingredients, and that's why we carefully select premium cuts of meat for our creations. Our commitment to quality ensures that every bite not only delights your dog but also provides the essential nutrients needed for a healthy diet. Each product is crafted with care, reflecting our dedication to offering natural and nutritious options that you can trust.
We are often found in St Peters Garden Centre at the Butchers buying our dog food products, it’s important to us to support local businesses, including local butchers where we can see the cuts of meat ourselves.
Often sadly mince meat is not now clear on what goes into it, therefore we choose diced or cuts and mince ourselves so we truly know it’s high quality.
Peanut Butter
We have one bake that uses peanut butter and we have to say, it definitely goes down well with the tasters! We only use Meridian peanut butter, it truly is the best as it does not use Palm Oil, only 100% nuts and nothing else. Only the best our doggies deserve!
Peanut butter offers numerous benefits for dogs when used in moderation. It serves as an excellent source of beneficial fats, plant-derived protein, and antioxidants, all of which play a significant role in enhancing the immune system and supporting cognitive function.
We cannot stress highly enough that peanut butter products absolutely must not contain Xylitol which is a sugar substitue harmful to dogs, this is exactly why we only use the highest quality peanut butter well recognised for their sustainability.
